She enjoys her position and working with young adults as it is both challenging and highly rewarding.
Lynne enjoys the mentorship aspect of developing psychological professionals. The internship programme not only challenges her but helps her to constantly grow in all aspects of her professional practice. As part of her job profile, she also lectures Psychology to first-year students, reporting that she really enjoys lecturing as it appeals to the teacher in her. Additionally, she favours the supervision of the interns
and doing career counselling presentations for visiting schools.
Her interests related to psychology include:
- Internship programme management and internship programme development
- Programme management e.g. administrative processes, training management
- Career Counselling processes and career counselling assessments
- Bereavement counselling
- Lecturing Psychology
Highlights of Lynne’s career up to now include the internship programme and offering counselling services for TUT students, and how they assist the students to the best of their abilities. Qualities in her colleagues that she values are honesty, reliability, compassion, good communication skills, good conflict management skills and a non-judgemental attitude. Having been a SAACDHE member since 2012, Lynne has attended five SAACDHE Conferences remembering the Gala Event at the Lagoon Beach in the Western Cape as a favourite. This committed member is excited about the people in the organisation and how passionate they are about SAACDHE.
Our SAACDHE President’s birthday is on 22 September and she has been most grateful in 2018 for her health and her family. Her favourite book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, and she has hidden talents of interior decorating and gardening. Lynne prefers to spend her time away from work with her family, reading, interior decorating, gardening, watching her favourite shows, and listening to music.
The EMC would like to wish our President, Lynne Malan, all the best with her term in this portfolio.
